The presence of the Presa Canario is becoming more evident in the islands since 1970. This dog, as in the previous decade was relegated to very small number in the middle peasant and farmer, begins to adapt as a keeper in the urban environment, allowing its entry into other social media and its rapid spread.
In 1982, a group of breeders from the island of Tenerife, responsible for most of the existing population at that time, decide to work in teams, forming partnerships in order to carry forward the already initiated in the decade earlier recovery of the Presa Canario, a friendly work involved growing tradition, which undergo a screening program, governed by a pattern that formalize the light of historical graphical data, the oral information of former breeders and the population of most representative prey at that time.
Born for this purpose the Spanish Club of the Presa Canario, duly authorized by the Real Sociedad Central de Fomento of dog breeds in Spain, which starts from the moment an incessant efforts to disseminate the Presa Canario all means at its disposal, especially Hits through popular.
The Club with a selected group of individuals is present at the National Exhibition of Tenerife, 1985, as a breed of recovery, and also in international exhibitions in Las Palmas, as such, in 1985 and 1986 .... It manages and gets Central to the Royal Society in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of the Canaries, the holding of the First Regional Sample Type Dog Presa Canario, 19 October 1986, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

To study in greater numbers, the population of existing dam in the adjoining province of Las Palmas, the Spanish Club of the Presa Canario held on 6 June 1987, the Second Regional Sample Type Presa Canario dog in the town Guide Gran Canaria, where they were produced 80 copies raports presented, which condense mainly the population of the towns of Gran Canaria Guide, Gáldar, Arucas Firgas and others.
Held two regional samples, to study the existing population by the Spanish Breeds Committee for the future drafting of a Racial Census, the Royal Society in Central Madrid requested the presence of two copies, one from each Province Canaria to be formally introduced at the International Exhibition in autumn 1987. It took place the official presentation of the Presa Canario on 1 November 1987. Through the related acts, the Commission of Spanish Breeds gathered enough evidence to writing a racial pattern to fix the mental-physical characteristics of the Presa Canario. The work that required a long management, culminating in the adoption and approval of the Official Standard of the Breed, which was reported to the Club on 24 January 1989, bringing the attack dog of the Canary Islands perpetuates its existence.
From the official recognition of the Presa Canario, the Club may be increased if the work of dissemination and consolidation of the race, establishing itself as a constant search genetic fixation, a task fraught with difficulties, given the insular origin of the race, which separates the two nuclei most important population, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Establishing the psychosomatic characteristics of the Presa Canario, has always been the priority task of the Club, as well as the difficult fusion of expressive aspects we call racial criminality.
Upon recognition records began initial RRC, which were maintained during the first half, with a minimum of two year. In addition to records performed at Tenerife and Gran Canaria since 1993 have been extended within the Canary archipelago, to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
Within the national territory, has also taken the opportunity to move specialist judges, encountered and proposed by the Club to perform year after year the breed records in the International Exhibitions of Madrid and Spanish Breeds Special.
The Presa Canario, as the most popular breed in the Canary archipelago, appeared, with increasing frequency in samples and competitions organized by the various councils of the islands in colaboration with groups of breeder fans, willing to hold these events.
Deserve a separate chapter, the conduct and organization of the breed Solo Exhibitions, the club conducts an annual basis.
Year after year, the National Exhibition Monograph, of which there have been six editions, has gathered the best of the existing population in our country, and is the most accurate scale of the work of selection and breeding of the Presa Canario. It analyzes one by one, with specialist judges, specimens submitted in all apect, morphology, temperament, movement, and racial expression. She is valued in a more positive animals for breeding and identifies individuals pointers, which are recommended for breeding.
At this point, the breed expects its recognition by the Federation International Cinológica, for which the Spanish Club of the Presa Canario has taken all necessary steps.
